Standard Directors announces the signing of award-winning director Martin Rosete to its roster.

A native of Madrid now residing in the U.S., Martin was recently named one of Variety’s top ten noteworthy new directors in a special section on Spanish cinema, and was profiled in a 2013 Wall Street Journal article about the influx of talented Spanish artists flocking to the U.S.

His most recent short film, “Voice Over”, was nominated for a Spanish Academy Award (Goya Award) in 2013 and was released by Canal + Spain, winning more than 70 awards in such prestigious film festivals like the One Show, the Chicago International Film Festival, New York International Short Film Festival, Gijon, and Monaco, and has been included at many others including the Tribeca Film Festival, San Sebastian, Clermont Ferrand and the Los Angeles Film Festival.

As his acclaim increases, Martin has directed commercials domestically and internationally for such recognizable brands as Omnitel, Optimum, Mangali Water, and Doritos.

In 2002, Martin Rosete directed and produced his first 35mm short film, “Revolution”, which won more than 50 awards at international film festivals. “Revolution” was co-produced by Koldo Zuazua, renowned Spanish producer of filmmakers like Julio Medem and Luiso Berdejo, who also produced Martin’s second 35mm endeavour, “Our Daily Bread”, starring award-wining actor Álex Angulo (“Pan’s Labyrinth”).

Martin studied Audiovisual Communication at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Directing Actors at the legendary San Antonio de los Baños International Film School in Cuba and was invited to attend the First Talent Campus of Berlin International Film Festival in 2004.

In 2007, after two years shooting commercials in Madrid with his brother for Kamel Films, Martin moved to New York City with a full scholarship from La Caixa to undertake his master’s at the New York Film Academy. In the U.S., Martin directed more award-winning short films and continued building his commercial career.
